Remove water from oil

We all know oils float over water. Hence, it is a general thinking that removing oil from water is an easy process. However, it is not that easy as it appears.  You need to follow some specific processes to remove oil from water.

What is the process?

Extended Gravity Oil Water Separation is one of the most trusted processes used by most of the industries of the world to separate oil from water. EGOWS is another trusted process in this direction. It is capable of extracting water from oil even if the count is below 10 per million. This extraction process does not need energy. There are other processes for this separation. However, they are highly energy extensive. These processes also require higher cost for installation and maintenance.

How is ozone involved here?

Using ozone for separation of oil from water was first developed by Andy Hong. He used two techniques for this purpose. First one is ozone aeration and the second is the sand filtration. The role of ozone in oil water separation process is to saturate the water content. This is achieved through pressurizing ozone on the mixture of oil and water. Once water  saturates, depressurization process takes place. Due to this, micro-bubbles of water are formed and these bubbles are separated easily.

Remove water from coal/petrol

Water can get into a petrol or coal tanker due to several reasons. If such a situation arises, first of all completely drain the tank containing petrol or coal. Then fuel lines of the tank needs to be flushed. After the flush replace the fuel filter installed in the tank. In most cases, replacement or dismantling of carburetor is not required.
